Day Zero – Your Honor

Daily blog: It’s November 20th, and today I will state my case, in my best southern lawyer accent, as to why Governors should rescind their Covid-19 mandates.

Your Honor, Covid-19 mandates placed on the citizens of these United States of America are unlawful.

The mandates, put in place, supposedly, to protect the majority of our citizens from harm. Do not protect the majority at all.

If we were to weigh the number of deaths from Covid against the harm done to our citizens by the mandates, it is clear to me as it should to you which number is more significant.

As a nation, we cannot destroy our economy based on the number of people who get it but do not die. Or the number of people who test positive and do not die.

Thus, these mandates, issued to protect the majority from harm, have failed and should be removed immediately.

To permit them to continue is irresponsible and will most certainly bring us to economic ruin.

Covid-19 mandates transgress all we hold dear; our country, economy, people, businesses, church, and freedom.

In closing, I would like to remind everyone of Samuel Adam’s quote:

“If ever the time should come when vain & aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”

And I say, that day has come.

Day Zero – They own Thanksgiving

Daily blog: It’s November 19th, and seven days from now, my family will celebrate with as many people we choose, regardless of all the politicians who think they own Thanksgiving.

I know it’s laughable but, many of them are spouting off at the mouth trying to tell you how many family members you can have in your home.

Their three weeks to help flatten the curve request launched at the beginning of the year has now turned into, do as I say, not as I do, restrictions on every aspect of our lives. Next, it will be Christmas, then Easter, and so on and so on.

They do this because the majority of Americans do not challenge their unconstitutional mandates.

But make no mistake, Governors, this Thanksgiving, I will be giving thanks to all of the fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters who have given life and limb to provide me with the freedom to do as I damn well, please.

So take your mandates and shove them where the sun don’t shine because nobody owns Thanksgiving.

We are not a country of cowards

Today there are large numbers of people frozen in fear as their lives crumble around them. They justify their anxiety by saying, “The government said to be safe, I should stay home.”

Well, there is a problem with that advice. You will not have a home to stay in if you continue to listen to them.

Yes, there are dangers out there, but there is a larger danger waiting for you if you don’t regain control over your life. You have to accept certain levels of risk, or you will die. Think about it, if people were not out there taking risk, those hiding in fear would not be able to stay home in the first place.

Can you imagine where we would be today if our ancestors hid from every fear they faced? It was their bravery that made this country great. It is ours that will keep it great, and our kids who will continue to move on in the face of fear. We are not a country of cowards. At least I hope not, but I will admit, sometimes it looks that way.

The coronavirus balancing act

Do you go to work and risk getting sick, or do you stay home and risk losing your house because you can’t pay the bills?

This is the balancing act that every person will face if Covid-19 continues to spread.

I think people will choose to go to work. So how do we eliminate the threat without throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

Now, for those that may not know, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater” is an idiomatic expression for an avoidable error in which something good is eliminated when trying to get rid of something bad. And how we keep from doing this is unknown right now. But we need to figure it out because a mask is not going to save you. If it can stick to a mask, it can stick to your clothing and your car, and so on.
