Victor Davis Hanson thinks some American cities are in a Doom-Loop. Do you agree?

Microfiction – Would You Mind
An old man asked his young neighbor. “Would you mind if I opened your mailbox and read your mail?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course I would mind.”
“Would you mind if I peered through your window every once in awhile to see what you are doing?”
“Are you insane?”
“Would you mind if I listened in on your private conversations?”
“Would you mind if I followed you around to see where you go and what stores you buy from?
“Would you mind if I kept a copy of your finger prints?”
“That’s enough old man. You need to go back home.”
As the old man left he looked back at the young man and said. “If my questions upset you, I apologize. But for the life of me I can not figure out why you would be upset with your neighbor doing these things while at the same time allowing it to happen online by strangers, the government, your employer and so on.”
The young man stood silent as the old man disappeared through the hedge.
Energy – Unsustainable
The video below discusses the world’s finite energy resources, and I found it very interesting.
Everyone wants to find a solution, but in the end, self sufficient families and communities will be the answer, aka small towns in which people have enough land to grow their own food with enough left over to trade with tradesmen who can furnish things they are unable to provide for themselves.
Local will be the way to go, in my opinion, should cheap energy disappear.
Music – Rich Men North of Richmond
I think he is singing what many of us have been thinking.
Towns – How Every Small Town Is Made
This comedic look at small towns exposes the monolithic reality being imposed on them by corporations that only care about their bottom line.
Poem – Little Pricks
Little pricks of corruption drip from our backs, slowly bleeding us to death.
I would love to see an Alien
A Big Foot.
A ghost.
A Loch Ness.
But no clear proof exists for any of these. That does not mean they are not there. But you would think someone by now would have taken a clear and provable photo or video.
Haiku – Slam
Breaks slam, laptop falls
A blog cannot be written
Wallet opens; sigh

Haiku are short — very short — poems
In this haiku, an empty wallet cannot save the day
Towns – The Importance of Spreading Money Around
Early townspeople knew the importance of spreading their money around to multiple town businesses. And the business owners knew the importance of serving everyone’s needs.
Townsends explains in the video below:
Cities – 15 Minute
Are 15-minute cities a good idea? Yes and No. It would be convenient if every part of a city had everything you needed. But ultimately, people in power will use it as a control mechanism.
Get everyone to use transit, and you can control their movements.
Have everyone live in buildings without land, and you control their food supply.
Get everyone to go cashless, and you control their access to money.
I could be wrong, but the man’s chickens in the video below have everything they need, and he makes a good point.
