The Space Gerneration

I believe people like myself, born between 1960 and 1965, should be called the Space Generation because we cannot relate to Boomers or Gen X.

What we can relate to is space. And while we were too young to remember the first two men to go into space in 1961, we were definitely old enough to remember and watch all of the televised launches after 1965, as well as the first moon landing.

These first successful and tragic events were etched into our minds as we stared breathlessly into our black-and-white TVs, and from that point on, we were hooked.

Throughout the years, we’ve continued to watch as each new generation took on the task. And even though the world no longer stops with each rocket launch, we do. Because to us—or at least to me—it’s still amazing to stare breathlessly, with fingers crossed.
