God told Adam and Eve they could eat from any tree in the garden but for the one in the middle of the garden, for if they touched or ate of its fruit, they would die.

And just like a child who was told not to push a button or you will die. The button was pushed, bringing on a big grin when nothing happened. A grin that soon disappeared when it was discovered that the button activated a thing called time.
