Microfiction – The Trail

A man stood with his son in the fork of a trail and said, “Don’t go left; the path is difficult. I hiked it years ago against my father’s wishes and regretted it.”
The son replied, “Thanks, Dad, but I’ll be fine. Go ahead on the right path, and I will meet you at the trailhead.”
The man sighed and waved goodby just as his father had years before.
Later that night, his son arrived. “You didn’t tell me about the snakes.”
